A Kerry climate activist has criticised local politicians for supporting the proposed liquefied national gas terminal on the Tarbert-Ballylongford landbank.
Eoghan Harris, who’s a member of environmental group Future Generations Kerry, is among those taking part in the Climate Camp in Tarbert, which is opposing the development of Shannon LNG.
Mr Harris, who’s from Listowel, has accused politicians of playing local people against the national interest; he says fracked gas is the biggest threat to our society.
He says while people support Shannon LNG for the employment prospects it’ll bring, he believes prosperity cannot be built on the backs of other people suffering.
