It’s expected that members of the Civil Defence in Kerry will be vaccinated against COVID-19 within two weeks.
The Civil Defence provided assistance to members of the public following heavy flooding in areas of the county throughout yesterday.
They deployed over 300 sandbags in the Fossa area alone; their crews also transferred patients to hospital and to the COVID test centre in Tralee this week.
Civil Defence Officer Tom Brosnan has been calling for their members to be vaccinated and the HSE has told him they should receive the vaccine within the next two weeks.
Mr Brosnan says the work the Civil Defence performs should be deemed essential:
