Beachgoers in Kerry are being advised not to ignore red warning flags.
A full moon last night meant there were high tides at beaches around the county in recent days, which caused rip currents.
Lifeguards raised ref flags at a number of beaches, meaning swimmers should not have entered the water due to strong currents.
Red flags can also signify infestations of jellyfish.
John Leech CEO of Water Safety Ireland says it’s vital that people obey lifeguards and take notice of the flags erected at Kerry’s beaches.
He has this advice for swimmers who get caught in strong currents.
