The Aontú representative for Kerry says paying hospital car parking charges add unnecessary stress and pressure for those attending the hospital.

Sonny Foran adds recent reports of the amount hospitals collect from car parking charges highlights the need for his party's bill on the matter.

He claims the government should be doing more to alleviate unnecessary burdens for patients in hospital, such as car parking charges.

Mr Foran says Aontú's bill would allow outpatients use car parks at public hospitals for up to three hours for free.

He's calling for cross-party support for this bill, which he says would offer immediate relief and support to hospital patients.
