The CEO of Kerry Airport says funding of €1.7 million ensures they'll have the assets and capability to build towards recovery.
Minister Hildegarde Naughton announced funding of over €1.7 million for Kerry Airport this morning, as part of the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025.
These funds will go towards capital investment in safety, security and sustainability projects, with many including valuable climate benefits.
Chief Executive of the Farranfore-based airport, John Mulhern says the last year has been an unprecedented chapter of great struggle for Kerry Airport.
However, he says despite it all they are confident of the future as the airport continues to receive support from the Government and the Department of Transport.
Mr Mulhern says this announcement is yet another example of how this government ensures Kerry Airport will have the assets and capability to maintain and continue to build a safe, secure and more environmentally-conscious platform towards recovery.
John Mulhern says they will undoubtedly need to wrestle through for a time, however, the record vaccination rates and such funding announcements pave the way to unfettered travel, that we all long for again.
The CEO praised the government, relevant ministers, Kerry TDs and elected officials for their continued support.
