Kerry County Council is continuing to monitor the River Feale following a recent oil leak.
The light slick was spotted on the river on April 14th and 15th and was traced by council staff to a leaking storage tank in a nearby business premises.
Answering questions from Councillors Tom Barry and Aoife Thornton, the local authority said the incident did not result in any long-term environmental issues.
The council said in responding to the incident its priority was the protection of the drinking-water intake at Scartleigh, which was achieved.
It added there was no evidence of any direct impact on wildlife but it will continue to monitor the situation.
