Kerry County Council’s new Mayor is Killorglin councillor, John Francis Flynn.
The 31-year-old Kenmare Municipal District representative was elected to the position of Cathaoirleach at the council’s AGM at county buildings today.
He has taken over the role from party colleague, Jimmy Moloney, and becomes the first Killorglin councillor to be the county’s first citizen since Timothy ‘Chub’ O’Connor in 1974.
Fine Gael Councillor Bobby O’Connell has been elected Leas Cathaoirleach.
Among councillor Flynn’s supporters at the AGM were Minister for Education, Norma Foley, and Chairperson of the Seanad, Senator Mark Daly.
New Kerry Cathaoirleach, John Francis Flynn says housing, health, and connecting with the Kerry diaspora, are among his priorities for the year ahead.
