Former government minister, senator, and Kerry Fine Gael TD Jimmy Deenihan has been announced as the new chairperson of Munster Technological University.
Mr Deenihan has been appointed Chairperson of MTU’s Governing Body, following a public process carried out by the Department of Further and Higher Education.
The former politician succeeds Bob Savage, who’s served in the role since January.
Minister for Higher Education, Simon Harris, paid tribute to the work carried out by Mr Savage, in helping MTU become a reality.
Congratulating Mr Deenihan, Minister Harris said he looks forward to visiting MTU in the coming months.
MTU is Ireland’s second technological university, following the establishment of TU Dublin.
