Irish Water says it expects to complete repair works on a burst water main in Farranfore later this evening.
The water supply to homes and businesses in Farranfore, Scartaglin, Cordal, Currans, Currow, Ballymacelligott, Firies, Castlemaine and Milltown is currently affected by the burst.
It's the second time this has happened in a month.
Irish Water says crews are working to repair the burst as quickly and safely as possible, but it may take up to three hours after the estimated completion time for water supply to fully return.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the village until further notice, and use the Tralee to Farranfore road only if going to the airport, while diversions are in place.
The burst has resulted in significant traffic disruption on one of the busiest roads in the county, the N22.
Kerry Fine Gael TD and Deputy Government Chief Whip Brendan Griffin says the burst has been brought to the attention of the CEO of Irish Water, and is calling for an urgent response.
