An Ireland South MEP says it's completely unacceptable that a social media company may have breached EU consumer rights.
MEP Deirdre Clune was speaking after the European Commission and the network of national consumer authorities launched a formal dialogue with social media company TikTok to review its commercial practices and policy.
The European Consumer Organisation found aggressive advertising techniques targeted at children, as well as potentially misleading or confusing contractual terms.
MEP Clune, who is a member of the Internal Market and Consumer Affairs Committee, says it's good that TikTok is being held accountable.
