Ireland South MEP, Mick Wallace, has described the EU-UK trade deal as a disaster for the Irish fishing community.
The fishing industry here is expected to lose €43m worth of quota share by 2026 because of the deal.
Mr Wallace said quota transfers in the Agreement are hugely disproportionate and massively unfair on Ireland in comparison to other coastal member states.
He was speaking during the European Parliament plenary debate on the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement this week.
The MEP called for concessions from bigger member states to give Irish fishermen quotas that have some measure of fairness.
