Kerry County Council has launched an investigation after the remains of several lambs were dumped in a south Kerry river.
Council staff have been made aware that about eight dead lambs were dumped in the Blackwater river, close to the R568 Moll's Gap to Sneem road.
County vet with the council Paddy Fenton, described the incident as absolutely appalling and shocking, particularly as the Blackwater is home to the freshwater pearl mussel.
He is appealing for anyone with information to assist with their investigation.
