There was a slight increase in the number of HAP tenancies in Kerry during the first quarter of the year.
That's according to figures provided by Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien, following a parliamentary question by Tipperary Fianna Fáil TD, Jackie Cahill.
Housing Assistance Payment or HAP is a form of social housing support for people with a long-term housing need, whereby the council pays the landlord directly, and the tenant makes a contribution to the council.
At the end of the first quarter of the year, there were 1,681 active HAP tenancies in Kerry, up from 1,623 at the end of 2020.
This represents an increase of almost 4% in the space of three months.
