Members of the Irish Farmers' Association are staging a demonstration in Dublin today to voice their anger at delays in issuing licences to allow forestry owners to cut their trees.
Chair of Kerry IFA Forestry Committee Jason Fleming, who will take part in the protest, says over 6,000 licences for felling trees around the country awaiting processing.
This is compounding a shortage of timber in the country and is impacted on confidence in the sector in terms of new planting.
The Department of Agriculture's Project Woodland is attempting to resolve issues in the sector.
