The IDA said it fears of being told only hours in advance of the sale of a Tralee manufacturing plant.
This was revealed in correspondence between the government agency and the car parts manufacturer BorgWarner, following the company's decision to cease operations in Kerry.
In July of last year, BorgWarner announced a phased closure by March of this year, resulting in the loss of over 200 jobs.
In recent months, there have been conflicting reports over the potential sale of the building currently occupied by BorgWarner in Monavalley.
Correspondence released through the FOI Act to Radio Kerry shows that the IDA requested information from the company about the building in January.
In February, an IDA employee told BorgWarner he's conscious the planned closure date was approaching and that there's a lot of media interest, for which the IDA needs to be prepared.
The IDA told BorgWarner it's not getting much information from the company regarding the sale of its site in Tralee and the issue has become a real impediment.
Referencing a request from Radio Kerry in March, BorgWarner told the IDA that its recommendation is not to make any comment on the sale of the building.
The IDA again asked for an update on the building, saying it has been a strong supporter of the company and says it really needs some information soon.
It adds it fears of being told only hours in advance of the closure what the outcome will be, which would go against an earlier promise to share information.
BorgWarner said it doesn't have much of an update, other than to say it's working on a potential sale.
