Dingle and Ballybunion are moderately littered while Portmagee is clean according to the latest IBAL coastal litter survey.
The nationwide litter survey by business group Irish Business Against Litter found that the majority of our beaches and harbours are falling short of clean status.
40% of 32 coastal areas surveyed were clean but there was a rise in areas branded ‘littered’ or ‘heavily littered’.
The survey carried out by An Taisce said the first impression of both Dingle and Ballybunion Beach was good.
However, there was scattered food related litter like sweet wrappers and coffee cups in both areas, along with broken glass in Ballybunion.
There were also cans, masks, wipes and dog waste along the upper Atlantic coastal footpath in Ballybunion.
The overall impression of Portmagee was described as excellent and the report said the tidiness of the village is a credit to the people of the Portmagee.
