Planning permission has been granted by Kerry County Council for a housing development in Killarney.
A large number of objections to the proposed development were lodged with the council from people living in the area.
In a revised planning application, Flesk Grove Developments sought permission to demolish a former B&B on the site at Ballycasheen, Killarney and build 31 two-storey houses along with a modified site entrance, access road, footpaths and associated site works.
A significant number of objections to the plans were made to Kerry County Council from local residents, including the Flesk Grove Residents’ Group.
Among the concerns were the density of the development, traffic safety, flooding risk and potential pollution of the river.
Kerry County Council granted permission for the development subject to 27 conditions, including the omission of one house from the development to allow for a six-metre corridor along a boundary.
The local authority requested a revised site layout for the 30-house development be submitted to it prior to construction.
