It’s hoped that waiting times for endoscopy services in UHK will return to pre-pandemic levels by mid-June.
That’s according to Eddie Myers from Fossa, who is a registered advanced nurse practitioner at University Hospital Kerry.
The HSE says the risk of bowel cancer increases with age; this is why people between 60-69 are invited to take a bowel screening test every two years.
It’s trying to raise awareness of the cancer during April, which is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.
Eddie Myers is urging Kerry people invited for a bowel cancer screening to attend their appointments, adding those outside this age group can seek more information from their GP.
