HIQA has found issues of non-compliance in a Kerry centre for adults with disabilities.
The Health Information and Quality Authority carried out an unannounced inspection at Glebe Lodge in Castleisland, which is run by the Kerry Parents and Friends Association.
HIQA carried out the unannounced inspection on ten-resident facility the 4th March.
It found issues of non-compliance in four areas: staff training, governance and management, service provision contracts and fire precautions.
In particular, it found that - while the provider had conducted regular fire drills during daytime hours - the evacuation times did not provide sufficient assurance that all residents could be safely evacuated at times when fewer staff would be present.
In response, the provider said night time staffing would be increased.
Overall, the inspection was very positive.
The HIQA inspector spoke with eight of the ten residents at Glebe Lodge, finding them to be very happy at the range of activities and the choice of meals offered.
The report also noted the staff were seen to be very supportive and attentive to the residents' needs and interests.
