The Government is being called on to provide a compensation package for Kerry Airport.
Independent councillor Jackie Healy Rae made the call at the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Jackie Healy Rae said Kerry Airport will be vital in the future economic growth of the county.
He called on the council to write to Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan in relation to a financial package for regional airports, particularly for the Farranfore-based facility.
He says such a package is necessary for their survival.
The Independent Cllr also highlighted the significant impact that Cork and Shannon airports have for this county, as they grant access to Kerry to visitors and business people.
Cllr Jackie Healy Rae says the regional airports are an integral part of our transport infrastructure, especially here in Kerry, and says they need help from the Government to survive.
His motion was supported by all MD councillors.
