The shortage of water in Kerry is down to the large volume of people visiting the county as well as the recent warm and dry weather.
That’s according to Director of Services with Kerry County Council, John Breen.
He was speaking after several councillors criticised the shortages following a few days of good weather.
The councillors expressed their concerns at the monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
Irish Water has been asking people to conserve water where they can as they are monitoring water supplies during the current dry spell.
Barleymount near Killarney has had night time restrictions, however, more areas might be added in the coming days if levels drop too low, according to the national utility.
Kerry County Councillors expressed frustration and concerns that water levels had dropped so low, given the short spell of good weather.
A number of councillors said it was not good enough, adding Irish Water has a lot of questions to answer.
Director of Services with Kerry County Council, John Breen stated that water conservation message was a general one but added the large volume of people visiting the county is putting pressure on local schemes.
Mr Breen said that coupled with the weather conditions were behind the shortage, and said it was just a seasonal issue.
