A well-known north Kerry hotel has failed to sell at auction.

The Golf Hotel in Ballybunion was among the lots at the BidX1 auction and had a reserve price of €850,000.

However, selling agent Gary O'Driscoll says there were a number of interested parties in the properties, both domestic and international.

He says the parties made enquiries both prior to the auction and since it happened.

The 98-bedroom hotel has two bars, a take-away, a nightclub and a gym; it closed in February 2016 with the loss of around 80 full-time seasonal jobs.
