Gardaí were at the Debenhams store in Tralee earlier today, to assist with the execution of a High Court order.

This was the latest development in a dispute between the retail giant and former employees over the level of redundancy offered to staff.

Former Debenhams staff have been holding a picket at the Manor West store for over a year.

Last October, an injunction filed by the liquidators against some former staff was granted in the High Court.

Radio Kerry contacted gardaí for a comment, after Solidarity and Socialist Party TD for Cork North Central Mick Barry criticised gardaí’s presence at the Debenhams store in a tweet this morning.

The Garda Press Office said it doesn’t comment on third-party material.

It did confirm that gardaí went to Debenhams in the Manor West Retail Park this morning to assist in the execution of a High Court order.

Gardaí had no further comment.
