Investigations are continuing in Kerry and in the wider Munster area into individuals who may be connected to the seizure of almost €33m worth of crystal meth at the Port of Cork on February 16th.
Two Kerry men appeared in court in connection with the seizure last Friday.
Meanwhile, Fine Gael has denied reports that one of the men was being considered as a local election candidate for the party.
The find, which was as a result of a joint operation between gardaí in Kerry and Revenue, is being described as the largest quantity of crystal meth seized in the state.
43-year-old Nathan McDonnell of Ballyroe, Tralee, appeared before a special sitting of Tralee District Court on Friday accused of the possession of a controlled drug for sale or supply.
41-year-old James Leen, of Pilgrim Hill, Kilmorna, Listowel, also faced two charges – possession of a controlled drug for sale of supply, and importation of a controlled drug.
Both were remanded in custody.
The Sunday Independent is reporting that gardaí have identified a number of individuals in Kerry and Munster they consider to be persons of interest and that the investigation is ongoing.
It's expected that further investigations will take place over the coming weeks and liaison is also continuing with international police.
Its reported that Mr. McDonnell has been transferred from Cork Prison to a higher security facility in Portlaoise Prison.
Meanwhile Fine Gael have denied reports that Mr. McDonnell is a party member and was being considered as a candidate for this years local elections.
