Ferry operator in Kerry to cease operations

A ferry operator in Kerry is to cease operations, according to the company's Facebook page.

Blasket Island Ferries announced on its social media channel it's to cease transferring passengers from Dunquin Pier to the Great Blasket Island.

The company estimates it carried 250,000 passengers over the past 35 years to one of Europe's most westerly islands.

Blasket Island Ferries is hoping a new business will take on operation of the crossing.
