Almost 1,000 farmers involved in the Hen Harrier scheme, including in Kerry, are to get bonus payments totalling nearly half a million euro.
Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Pippa Hackett said the payments were in recognition of the success of farmers in delivering habitats for the hen harrier and other wildlife.
The €25 million scheme is funded under the Rural Development Programme.
Minister Hackett said participants are true farmers for nature and have earned every cent by managing their farms to deliver a habitat that sustains the hen harrier population.
