Fáilte Ireland says rebranding Killarney is advantageous for all of the county.
The group is looking to rebrand Killarney by creating a “world class tourism destination brand”.
They’ve published a tender seeking suppliers to create a fully formed identity for the Kerry town that can be communicated across all platforms and marketing.
This resulted in criticism, with many stating Killarney gets the lion's share of funding and promotion, to the detriment of other areas of the county.
Fáilte Ireland's team manager for the Wild Atlantic Way, Josephine O'Driscoll says Killarney is the gateway to the county, adding it has both day and night time attractions.
She understands the frustrations felt in other parts of Kerry but says they must focus on areas that will recover quickly.
Ms O'Driscoll says there will be benefits county-wide:
