Over €62,000 has been awarded to community groups in Kerry under the first round of the Community Enhancement Programme for 2020.
The programme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
Kerry Independent deputy Danny Healy-Rae has welcomed the announcement.
72 projects around the county have been approved and will receive funding ranging from €400 to €2,000.
The money will go towards a range of projects including COVID-19 capital related expenditure, hand hygiene and safety measures at public amenities and to create safe outdoor recreation spaces.

A second round of funding has been made available by the Department under the Community Enhancement Programme.
Over €155,000 is available and the closing date for applications is September 21st.
