University Hospital Kerry has categorised €2.8 million as 'written off' over a five-year period.
This is according to UHK's financial accounts, which document all the income and expenditure in the Tralee hospital.
The information, which was given under the Freedom of Information Act, outlines UHK's sources of income and expenditure during the period 2014-2018.
In 2018, the hospital categorised €646,000 as 'Patient Bad & Doubtful Debts written off'.
Over the preceding four years, amounts between €427,000 and €750,000 were marked in this category annually.
Over the five-year period, this amounts to €2.8 million.
