A driver has been caught speeding in Kerry just one day after receiving their learner permit.
It’s been a busy day for the Kerry Roads Policing Unit.
They also caught another motorist travelling three times the speed limit in Castleisland.
The Kerry Roads Policing Unit has seized a car after a learner driver was caught driving 50kms over the speed limit.
They were detected driving 154 kilometres in a 100 kilometre per hour zone on the Tralee to Killarney road.
The driver had only just received their learner permit the previous day and was driving unaccompanied; Gardaí seized the car.
Meanwhile, while operating a speed checkpoint in Castleisland the Kerry Roads Policing Unit detected a driver travelling at 159 kilometres per hour in a 50 kilometre per hour zone.
This driver also failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for dangerous driving; they are due to appear in court.
