Outdoor dining pods in Dingle will be closed from 10 o’clock each night, to prevent crowds from gathering following anti-social behaviour.
Kerry County Council erected a barrier in response to a request from residents to prevent such gatherings after bars close.
These outdoor dining pods are located in Strand Street.
Nearby residents raised concerns with Kerry County Council following anti-social behaviour there.
Following the June Bank Holiday weekend, one resident contacted Radio Kerry claiming residents had to endure uncontrolled drinking, public urination, roaring and shouting by large groups.
A spokesperson for the council says these pods are intended to be used for outdoor dining, rather than late-night gatherings.
A barrier has been erected to prevent such gatherings and the council says it’s intended this barrier will be replaced with sliding/lockable doors on the pods.
The council says it’s committed to being flexible and responsive to needs of the residents and business community and also local concerns during this outdoor summer.
