Department warning people in Kerry of mobile phone scam

The Department of Social Protection is warning people in Kerry of a mobile phone scam.

The department has become aware that some members of the public have received phone calls from people purporting to be a department official.

The person is told their PPS number is compromised and they are asked to verify their name, PPS number and in some cases, their bank account details.

The department is urging people in Kerry not to engage with these callers, and it’s reminding people that it would never request financial details over the phone.
