A dedicated cyber hub has been set up at University Hospital Kerry in the wake of the cyber-attack on the HSE IT system.
Members of the public who call UHK with queries will be transferred to the hub.
Consultant anaesthetist and clinical director at UHK, Dr Niamh Feely says it is like going back to the 1970s with staff using pen and paper and using runners to move documents around the facility.
She says the situation is extremely challenging and the longer it continues the greater the disruption to appointments:
Meanwhile, the Irish Patients' Association says 7,500 people, including 500 children, who are awaiting a first-time outpatient appointment at UHK have been impacted by the cyber-attack.
The group says the number of patients waiting more than a year for an appointment in UHK has increased by 120% since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
