Kerry County Council will decide this month on a planning application to renovate and extend a historic gate lodge in Killarney.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service are seeking permission to build a single storey extension to the building in Muckross, which is a protected structure.
It also wants to carry out conservation works to the roof, windows, pointing, chimney and plaster of the gate lodge.
The application, which was welcomed by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, also includes two car parking spaces, external bin storage, new waste water treatment system and landscaping.
Kerry County Council says it is due to decide on the application by July 25th.
