The current dental care scheme for medical card holders is causing more pronounced problems in Kerry than most other counties.
That's according to the Chief Executive of the Irish Dental Association, Fintan Hourihan, who's calling for the scheme to be urgently replaced.
He says in the last three years, government spending on the Dental Treatment Services Scheme in Kerry went down by 48%.

He added Kerry also has a shortage of dentists who operate the scheme.
Fintan Hourihan says the Department of Health is lacking urgency in addressing the problem.
