Councillor Michael Gleeson’s replacement will be announced next month.
Yesterday, the Kerry Independent Alliance councillor said he’s to retire from politics in June, bringing to an end a political career which started in 1983.
The former teacher and All-Ireland winner served on both Killarney Town Council and Kerry County Council, and ran unsuccessfully for Dáil Eireann.

The Kerry Independent Alliance will name his replacement at the next council meeting.
Councillor Gleeson says he’s no regrets about not putting his name forward in the 2016 General Election.
