Kerry Independent Alliance councillor Michael Gleeson has officially given his resignation to the management of Kerry County Council.
Cllr Gleeson is one of the longest-serving public representatives in the county, having first been co-opted into local politics in 1983.
He announced his intention to resign from political life at the Killarney Municipal District earlier this month and officially gave his notice at today’s monthly meeting of Kerry County Council.
Council CEO Moira Murrell and councillors paid tribute to Cllr Gleeson, stating he’d be a huge loss to the council chamber and praising him for his remarkable legacy and commitment to Kerry during his political career.
