Cllr Michael O’Shea says it’s their priority to ensure everyone gets their fair share when it comes to tourism this summer.
He says a big amount of people will be coming to Kerry for staycations over the coming weeks.
In response, Kerry County Council says Kerry is well served by tourist facilities across the county and has a proven track record in catering for up to 2 million visitors annually.
It adds the increase in the numbers of domestic visitors to Kerry this year will be offset somewhat by the reduction in international visitors due to COVID related travel restrictions.
The council has reviewed all towns, villages and popular tourist locations to ensure visitors can safely comply with the current public health advice with appropriate signage and road markings being updated.
The council’s enforcement officers will also be deployed on our beaches and amenity areas, where considered necessary to monitor and manage these facilities with protocols in place with Gardaí.
Kerry County Council says there are existing service providers across the country who provide camping facilities.
