Local authorities, businesses and the gardaí can learn from the scenes of large crowds gathering in Dingle and Killarney over the weekend.

Following reports of large crowds gathering on the streets of Killarney on Saturday and Sunday nights, Patrick O'Donoghue, CEO of Gleneagle Group, says the responsible organisations have to adapt and learn from the situation.
He says government advice regarding an outdoor summer is posing challenges for people in the hospitality industry, as well as local authorities and the gardaí.

Mr O'Donoghue adds it will take time for people to get used to the new way of operating.

The sentiment is echoed by Richie Williams of Dingle Business Chamber, following similar reports of large crowds in the town across the weekend.

Mr Williams hopes it can be learned from, and was full of praise for Kerry County Council for rubbish collection, and the provision of additional seating on Strand Street.

Gardaí say crowds were dispersed in both Killarney and Dingle on Saturday and Sunday nights, but no major incidents or arrests were reported, and people were well behaved.
