The contract for the Skellig Star Direct Provision Centre is due to expire on Tuesday.
The Department of Justice wrote to Paul Collins of Townbe ULC in September on behalf of Justice Minister Helen McEntee, informing him that the contract for the provision of accommodation and services in Cahersiveen was being terminated.
On the 13th March, the Department of Justice signed a contract with Townbe ULC for the provision of accommodation and ancillary services to persons seeking international protection at the Skellig Accommodation Centre, Cahersiveen.
The contract commenced on March 18th, according to documents released to Radio Kerry under the FOI Act.
At the end of July, Minster Helen McEntee announced all residents would be moved from the centre by year end, however, this happened earlier than expected on the 2nd September.
The Department of Justice then waited four weeks following the last resident departing before writing to operator Paul Collins, informing him that the minister was terminating the contract.
The agreement stated that the minister may terminate the contract for a number of reasons without making a default payment, by giving 12 weeks written notice.
The department letter thanked Paul Collins and staff for their work in the Skellig Accommodation Centre.
