A voluntary conservation corps could soon be established for Killarney National Park.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service, in association with local stakeholders, is considering a proposal to establish a corps to help with projects in the park.

The idea was suggested by Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan.

At a meeting between the Minister and local representatives, it was said the framework for a conservation corps is already in place through the Killarney Mountain Meitheal Group.
President of Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and Kerry county councillor Niall Kelleher says a conservation corps would generate even greater enthusiasm and community involvement.
