People living in care homes are in for a musical treat this week with a series of concert recitals taking place practically on their doorsteps.
The Covid Care Concerts project brings classical music to residents and staff of care homes across Ireland.
Blackwater Valley Opera Festival in Co Waterford has partnered with the classical music ensemble Mobile Music Machine in delivering one-hour concert recitals on the grounds of 10 care homes in Kerry.
The recitals began today at Kenmare Nursing Home and St Joseph's Care Home in Kenmare.
Tomorrow, the musicians will perform in Ocean View Nursing Home, Camp and Aperee Living, Tralee.
On Wednesday, they'll be in Our Lady of Lourdes Nursing Home, Killarney and the Killarney Nursing Home while on Thursday, residents of Heather Lee Nursing Home, Killarney and Our Lady of Fatima Nursing Home, Tralee will be entertained.
The recitals in Kerry will draw to a close on Friday with performances at Áras Mhuire Care home, Listowel and Oaklands Nursing Home, Listowel.
The recitals, which comply with social distancing rules, are supported by the Government's Creative Ireland Programme along with Kerry County Council.
