The Coast Guard says water based inflatable devices present a clear risk to the public.
The warning follows the rescue of a young boy who was swept out to sea yesterday afternoon on an inflatable dingy near Smerwick Harbour.
Members of the Coast Guard were tasked to the scene and Valentia Coast Guard also made a broadcast to local vessels about the incident.
The boy was brought to safety by a private boat that was in the area.
The Coast Guard has reiterated its warning that inflatable toys are never suitable for use on the sea or on inland waterways.
