A Kerry county councillor is calling for a section of the Listowel Bypass to be named after a North Kerry TD.
Sinn Féin Cllr Robert Beasley told the Listowel Municipal District meeting the route should be called the Paddy Finucane Road in recognition of the politician's work in north Kerry in the 1940s and 1950s.
Cllr Beasley said this included the Cashen drainage project in Moyvane, Lixnaw and Abbeydorney.
Mr Finucane was a TD for Clann na Talmhan from 1943 to 1969.
Kerry County Council said any proposal for naming a new road won't be considered until after construction has begun and added that there is an agreed policy on naming roads and roundabouts.
