A Killarney councillor has called on Kerry County Council to investigate the poor condition of some houses rented by the council from private landlords.
Councillor Donal Grady said he's been contacted by several people who have been threatened with eviction by private landlords when they ask for home repairs to be done.
Councillor Grady said they were told to either sort it out themselves or get out.
He said something must be done as these landlords are getting public money and called on the council to carry out annual house inspections.
A spokesperson for Kerry County Council said it does not endorse any landlord behaving in this manner and said there are strong rules and regulations protecting tenants.
