The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht says businesses or services such as cinemas, galleries or theatres are not affected by yesterday's new restrictions on gatherings indoor and outdoor.

According to the department, such venues may operate under limits of a maximum of 200 people outdoors and 50 indoors.

The new crowd restrictions announced yesterday where indoor gatherings are limited to six and outdoor gatherings to 15 don't apply.

However, the department says individual groups attending such artistic or cultural  events must be limited to six people from no more than three households.

The department says outdoor arts events where social distancing can be ensured may also proceed.

Separately, Bird's Euroshow Funfair says it's closing early today in Tralee due to the weather forecast.

The funfair is seeking clarity as to what further measures may be required for, what it says, is its strictly controlled environment.
