Staff told an internal Tusla investigation child protection services in Kerry were in crisis, significantly under-resourced and bending under the pressure.

365 abuse allegations made in the county to Tusla weren't referred to Gardai.

The agency is currently carrying out an investigation to establish if disciplinary action should be taken against one social worker.

In confidential documents seen by the Irish Times, several staff told investigators this colleague was stretched beyond all capacity and had an unsustainable workload.
