Seven of Ireland's largest credit unions, including one in Kerry, have become the first to offer loans to SMEs under the government's COVID-19 Credit Guarantee Scheme.
Founded in 2019, Metamo is a joint venture between 16 of Ireland's largest credit unions and Killorglin-based Fexco, one of the country's largest financial services companies.
The credit unions, including Cara Credit Union, which serves Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin, have been approved to offer loans ranging between €10,000 and €1 million to small and medium-sized enterprises.
The unions say SMEs and agribusinesses will now benefit from greater access to funding under the COVID-19 Credit Guarantee Scheme.
