Urgent action is needed to address areas prone to flooding across Kerry.
That’s according to Mayor of Kerry Patrick Connor Scarteen, who was speaking following significant flooding in South Kerry this morning.
€5.43 million has been earmarked for flood defences and associated works for Kenmare and Cllr Connor Scarteen is seeking an update on when these works will begin.
The Cathaoirleach met Minister for the OPW Patrick O’Donovan this morning; Cllr Connor Scarteen told him action is needed now to protect properties.
Meanwhile, Kerry Fire Service helped move a family whose home was flooded in Sneem this morning.
The two adults and five children have been accommodated locally.
