There are calls for electronic signage to be erected at Coolcorcan crossroads, known locally as the corner of the park, in Kilcummin.
Cathaoirleach of Killarney Municipal District Marie Moloney made the call at a recent meeting of Killarney Municipal District.
Cllr Moloney said there were two serious accidents that occurred within two weeks of each other at Coolcorcan and road users are reporting a high number of ‘near-misses’ at the junction.
She said the crossroads sign is completely blocked by trees when coming to Kilcummin from the Tralee Road.
She commended the council on the signage put up at Finnegans Cross and asked for similar signage to be erected at Coolcorcan.
Independent councillor Donal Grady suggested placing ramps on the road coming from Coolick to slow down vehicles before reaching the dangerous junction.
Kerry County Council informed elected members they’ll review the accident history at the location and consult with An Garda Síochána to determine a solution on the issue.
